(Two, 4-hour workshops per day)

The Looking Glass: Reflections on Culturally Responsive CareSM examines how individual perceptions, cultural, ethnic and linguistic heritage influence daily interactions, and more importantly, influence personal opinions and attitudes when meeting new people. This program addresses the relationship between culture and healthcare. It teaches NICU professionals to identify cultural differences in their unique setting, respond appropriately to patient family members and identify opportunities for culturally responsive enhancement.

Program includes:

  • The influence of culture on family, healthcare and parents
  • Culturally responsive medical care
  • Examination of the cultural framework of the NICU
  • Review of current mandates on culture care and learning
